A rumor-filled report from Variety claims three actors are in the running to play the new James Bond: Tom Holland, Jacob Elordi, and Harris Dickinson.

It’s also mentioned that Amazon wants their new James Bond under 30 years old and to be a British actor, so the article points out that means Henry Cavill (42) is out, along with Aaron Taylor-Johnson (35). It’s further said that Idris Elba (52) won’t play Bond as well.

Jacob Elordi is actually Australian, but that doesn’t apparently matter (Aussie actor George Lazenby played Bond one time), and it sounds like what they mean is that the new James Bond won’t be an American actor.

Regarding Henry Cavill, he’s going to be filming his new Highlander movie in September with John Wick director Chad Stahelski, and has his Warhammer universe in development at Amazon.

Additional details revealed by the article say the rumors that Alfonso Cuarón was up to direct are true, but that he removed himself from the competition to focus on other projects.

Christopher Nolan was said to be a contender, but is said to be too busy with The Odyssey. Oddly, Nolan has been filming The Odyssey while Villeneuve hasn’t yet started filming Dune 3. So what’s really going on is that Nolan wanted the decision to make the final cut, but apparently, Villeneuve is letting Amazon have the final cut.

Jonathan Nolan, Christopher Nolan’s brother, is also said to have been up to write the new James Bond movie, but Variety says he’s too busy.

According to the site, Amazon does have a list of writers who will tackle the future of the franchise.

The Denis Villeneuve announcement also added his wife, Tanya Lapointe, as producer. As previously announced, Amy Pascal and David Heyman will produce and are overseeing James Bond for Amazon. No release date has been announced.
