Fans of the comics as well as the movie know Star-Lord isn’t entirely human, which is why he looks to have survived using the Power Gem at the end of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
James Gunn has already stated Star-Lord’s father will not be the same as in the comics, but hasn’t revealed just who it may be.
Now Michael Rooker potentially gives a big clue as Rooker is asked the question while appearing on KQRS Radio out of Minnesota.
Worth a mention is that Rooker states he does know the identity of Star-Lord’s father, and that if we read the comics, we do know as well.
“I know who the daddy is. I can’t say. If you actually dug those comics out of your closet and read them, then you will know who the daddy is.”
Rooker seems to imply the comics are old (as you keep old comics in your closet), which of course would be older Guardians of the Galaxy issues and appearances.
The team has been around since the 1960s, so it’s probably save to assume it’s an older Guardians of the Galaxy character, which many Marvel Cosmic fans think to be Starhawk.
Another possibility for Star-Lord’s father is Adam Warlock, which interestingly enough shares a similar origin with Starhawk in that they are both artificial beings (or at least partly). Actually, Starhawk’s mom is the female equivalent of Adam Warlock known as Kismet.
I’m curious what Gunn is going to do if he uses Adam Warlock, as the Vision was introduced with the gem in the forehead for Avengers 2 and is an artificial being as well.
And if Starhawk is used, will he be from the future? Or will Gunn be writing something totally different just using the “Starhawk” name?
“Guardians of the Galaxy 2” hits May 5, 2017.
