In addition to the recent confirmation that there will be a Season 8 for Doctor Who, we now learn that Matt Smith will return as well.
Matt Smith confirmed his return to Doctor Who Season 8 with The Sun’s TV Magazine (via DoctorWhoTV).
“Iâm on a break for a couple of months while Iâm in Detroit making How To Catch A Monster,” he said. âWe come back and shoot the Christmas special over the summer, then we go on to the next series, which will either start filming at the end of this year or at the start of 2014.”
Recently, there has been mention of a shake-up in Doctor Who with rumor of showrunner Steven Moffat leaving after the 50th Anniversary.
However, with Moffat confirming season 8, and now with Smith doing the same, that seems unlikely.
The Doctor Who Season 7 finale airs Saturday with the 50th Anniversary in November which sees the return of David Tennant.
