Warner Bros. announces that The Matrix 4 has a release date, which oddly enough is the same release date for John Wick 4, both set to star Keanu Reeves.
The Matrix 4 will get released May 21, 2021, which is the same as Lionsgate’s fourth movie in the John Wick franchise.
It’s probably safe to say that Lionsgate will change the release date for John Wick 4, though to be honest, I wouldn’t mind both of them coming out at the same time, as I would go see both of them in a heartbeat.
The Matrix 4 stars Keanu Reeves
In addition to Keanu Reeves as Neo, The Matrix 4 will star Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity, Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe, with newcomers including Neil Patrick Harris, Aquaman Black Manta villain Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is rumored to be playing young Morpheus, Jessica Henwick is said to be playing a female-like Neo character at the forefront of the movie, and recently saw the casting news of Jonathan Groff, star of Netflix’s Mindhunter, and Toby Onwumere, known for Sense8, joining the film.
Lana Wachowski co-wrote the screenplay with Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell, with Wachowski also directing and producing. Grant Hill, who executive produced Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions returns as a producer.
The Matrix 4 is described by Warner Bros. as an “all-new film, returning audiences to the reality-bending universe.”
