Marvel Announces Punisher Special Release Date And Title

Marvel has also announced the release date and official title for the new Punisher special starring Jon Bernthal.

The project is titled A Marvel Television Special Presentation: The Punisher: One Last Kill and will start streaming May 12, 2026, exclusively on Disney+.

The news follows Marvel’s Wonder Man Season 2 announcement and also comes ahead of this week’s Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 premiere on Wednesday, as Marvel Television keeps pushing out more Disney+ updates.

Marvel Reveals Punisher: One Last Kill

Marvel confirmed the announcement in a post on Marvel.com and released the first teaser poster. Jon Bernthal also shared the poster and release date on Instagram.

Marvel’s brief description keeps things simple and direct: “Welcome back, Frank.”

That marks Bernthal’s return as Frank Castle in what looks to be another darker street-level Marvel project tied to the current Disney+ push.

The Timing Stands Out

The Punisher update did not come in a vacuum.

Marvel just announced Wonder Man is getting a Season 2, and now it has followed that up by revealing the Punisher special’s title and release date right before Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 premieres this week.

So Marvel is clearly stacking headlines around its Disney+ slate, with Daredevil, Punisher, and Wonder Man all now part of the conversation at the same time.

Jon Bernthal Returns As Frank Castle

Bernthal has become the definitive live-action Punisher for a lot of fans, so the return is a notable win for Marvel’s street-level corner.

The title One Last Kill also sounds like Marvel is leaning hard into the character’s brutal tone instead of softening him up for Disney+.

That will probably be the biggest thing fans are watching for when more details get released. The poster already suggests Marvel is going for a gritty and serious approach with Frank Castle front and center.

Marvel Keeps Expanding Disney+ Output

Between Daredevil: Born Again, Wonder Man, and now The Punisher: One Last Kill, Marvel Television is continuing to build out its Disney+ lineup even as fan reaction remains mixed across the broader MCU slate.

Punisher may have the advantage of being one of the more established and popular characters in Marvel’s streaming lineup, especially with Bernthal back in the role.

Now fans know the title, the release date, and that Frank Castle officially returns on May 12.
