The Marvel Studios Eternals movie is happening and has a director with the Chinese-born Chloe Zhao, who was actually up to direct the solo Black Widow movie at one time.
Eternals also has a pair of writers with Matthew and Ryan Firpo.
A possible story for the flick is described as involving a love story between Ikaris, a man fueled by cosmic energy, and Sersi, who relishes moving amongst humans.

In the comics, the Eternals were created by the all powerful Celestials who experimented on early humans creating the two races, the Eternals, and a mounstrous off-shoot, the Deviants, and giving them cosmic powers. As seen in The Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos is an Eternal with a mutant Deviants gene, which is the reason why Thanos looks the way he does, as the Eternals look human. The writers on Infinity War revealed details about a cut scene involving the Eternals of Titan.
THR notes the project also allows Marvel to assemble a diverse cast of various shapes and sizes.
Chloe Zhao, Matthew and Ryan Firpo are basically newcomers to the scene, with Zhao directing The Rider which won five Spirit awards.
