Man of Steel 2013: Superman Henry Cavill Talks Thor Chris Hemsworth & Fifty Shades Of Grey

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:2432:]] Things are starting to fly with the new Man of Steel movie as earlier we learned from director Zack Snyder that Henry Cavill is all but attached to the upcoming Justice League Movie.

In addition, the new Man of Steel trailer is attached to the December 14th premiere of The Hobbit, which gives the super fans out there something even more excited to look forward to.

As we’ve heard previously from many members of the Man of Steel cast, this version of Superman will be different than its predecessors, and we’ve also heard mention of a Christopher Nolan approach to the movie (Nolan is on as producer) with is said that Superman will be more real as well.

Now we get more of that from Henry Cavill who not only says his Superman will not be a bit vanilla – “not at all” – but that the movie will be “epically cool.”

“I don’t mean anything against the movies and TV shows that have come before, because they were of their time, but this is epically cool,” Cavill tells Details.com. “People in the past have criticized the character for being a bit chocolate-box, a bit vanilla, and this is not that—at all. The lore is there that we’re drawing from, but to create something from that which is reflective of life today—that’s the trick.”

Cavill also touches upon the fact that he is British playing an American super hero, and compares it to Chris Hemsworth playing Thor.

“It’s about who looks right for the character and for the generation it’s being cast for. If you only look at the American market, you’re narrowing down your options an awful lot. The point of acting is to pretend you’re someone else and sell a story. Chris Hemsworth is an Australian man, not a god from Asgaard. It would be even more fluke-y if every person who was playing a superhero was American.”

And it’s also rumored that Henry Cavill will be playing the character of Christian in Fifty Shades of Grey, with Cavill not ruling it out.

“Whether that happens, that decision will be made at the time it has to be made. It would be a very different kind of thing than Man of Steel,” he said.
