Man Of Steel (2012): Superman’s Secret Identity, Clark Kent, Might Be Revealed

[page_title]

[[wysiwyg_imageupload:941:]]With the plethora of images to come out of the filming for the Man of Steel, I don’t think we saw one of Henry Cavill as Clark Kent sporting glasses.

Of course, in the comic books and past movies, Clark uses the glasses to help keep his Superman identity secret.

But then, why isn’t Clark wearing glasses in the Man of Steel? Our first look at Cavill as Kent showed just a simple farm boy minus shades.

Well, director Zack Snyder thinks it’s a bit ridiculous, and says so in the following video while talking to Carson Daily. Snyder wants to make Big Blue relevant, and make folks care.

Which begs the question: With Clark not wearing the glasses, does that mean everybody will know his secret identity?

Could be, as we know from set images that Zod and Faora duke it out in Smallville with Cavill. Could be why Supes heads north to Alaska, too.

On a side note, the late Marvel Comics writer and editor, Mark Gruenwald, did something similar with the Green Lantern/Superman character he created named Quasar. Gru was a big DC Comics fan, but loyal to Marvel. Wendell Vaughn donned glasses to keep his secret identity, Quasar, secret — but, Wendell eventually discards the glasses as he realizes they are pointless. Ma and Pa Kent also made an appearance in an issue of Quasar, too (thought not “officially”) — along with The Flash!
