The Flash Season 3 “Killer Frost” Episode Synopsis:

KEVIN SMITH DIRECTS; KILLER FROST EMERGES — Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) uses her powers to save Barry (Grant Gustin) but as her mother predicted, the effort unleashes her inner Killer Frost. Killer Frost goes on a rampage looking for Dr. Alchemy, kidnapping Julian (Tom Felton) and battling both The Flash and Vibe (Carlos Valdes). Meanwhile, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and H.R. (Tom Cavanagh) have a heart to heart talk. Kevin Smith directed the episode with story by Judalina Neira and teleplay by Andrew Kreisberg & Brooke Roberts.

“Th Flash” airs Tuesdays at 8pm ET on The CW starring Grant Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash, Candice Patton as Iris West, Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West, Tom Cavanagh as Dr. Harrison Wells and Jesse L. Martin plays Joe West.

The ethereal @dpanabaker takes center stage in the episode of @cwtheflash I directed and man, did she turn in some series-best work! My second run at #TheFlash was more challenging than my first episode: there was very little speedster activity in #therunawaydinosaur but we’ve got a metric f— ton of running around and fighting this time. In @yogahosers, the girls fought a giant #GoalieGolem that was just a performer on stilts in a costume – but in my ep of #Flash, the hero fights a giant villain that exists only on some talented genius’ computer. And what’s oddly wonderful about shooting #vfx scenes is that the acting required is closest to childhood make-pretend. There were moments when #daniellepanabaker and @grantgust had to pretend to do things I’m relatively sure they can’t do IRL and it was adorable to watch. I don’t normally get to shoot stuff like that on my flicks so it’s fun for me to see the actors strike poses while battling figments of their imaginations and displaying powers and abilities that the vfx team will manifest for them later. It reminds me why all of us do this sh-t in the first place: at one point in our childhoods, we each decided to keep playing these make-pretend games well into adulthood, long after most sensible people opt instead to act like adults. It may not be the noblest way to make a living but it sure is kinda fun… #KevinSmith #flashseason3 #dccomics #kids #acting

Me and my hero. Today is my last day of shooting on the ep of @cwtheflash that I’m “directing.” But let’s be honest: all I’ve done is watch the cast and crew do what they do so well without me, week in and week out. Directing #TheFlash is kind of like my version of baseball fantasy camp: it’s like a dream-come-true of being in charge and essential to the process of something you deeply love but are normally outside of. I was never needed here: I just wanted to be here. And even though all the good folks on the #vancouver set welcome me with open arms, I know which way the favor goes: I’m a lucky fan who tries to stay out of the way while the true on-set brain trust of A.D. Bob Crippen, D.P. Kim Miles and script supervisor Lexy La Roche make the show I adore. Big thanks to the power trio, the entire amazing crew and the incredible cast for making me look good and making me feel like I’m actually a part of one of the best shows on television. I will really miss #CentralCity when I leave tomorrow. But unless I wanna f— up the timeline with a #Flashpoint kinda incident, I can’t live in the past – I gotta head to the future. And the future holds new flights of fancy to face. Next stop: #NationalCity and the set of @supergirlcw in mid-October! #KevinSmith #GrantGustin #dccomics #thecw

House of #Slytherin, son! Shout out to @t22felton – who spent the last few minutes of his birthday shooting on @cwtheflash with us in the wee hours of the morning. The man is all class and the character he plays is an excellent addition to the world of #TheFlash (we shot a moody scene with Tom and @grantgust on our first day that’s one of my favorite I’ve ever done). Meanwhile, the amazing cast & crew busted their a–es all day and night yesterday (while I watched) and shot some stellar scenes for Ep 7. This episode we’re making is the calm before the storm that is the forthcoming crossovers with @supergirlcw & @cw_legendsoftomorrow & @cw_arrow. I’ve seen what they’ve got planned for the massive event and it f—ing RULES! It’s breathtaking in its enormity and will be particularly fun for any long term @dccomics fan like me who has been reading that company’s books for decades. They’re pulling elements from a story that was a favorite of mine back in the day so there are tremendous terms and legendary locations in the crossover script I saw that will make any #dccomics lover fill their Underoos! I have enjoyed the sh-t out of “directing” Season 3 Episode 7 – but as a fan of #TheFlash, I can’t wait to watch the crossover to come! #KevinSmith #TomFelton #theflashseason3 #vancouver #canada #grateful

Meanwhile, in the #Vangroovy production headquarters of @cwtheflash, a villain hides like a coward from his directorial responsibilities! I’m back at #TheFlash prepping my ep! Just had an FX budget meeting and now headed out to scout some locations. We’ve got lots more action sequences and fights to shoot in this ep so I’ll likely be hiding like I am in this pic the whole time I’m here, terrified of improving as a visual storyteller. Or maybe, just maybe, I’ll try to shoot the sh-t out of it instead – especially because the episode contains a lot of “First” moments and super heroic sparring spectacle. And having already seen the first and second episodes of Season 3, I know the bar is set very high (those eps are a stellar start to this new year). But this is my favorite show – so the #Flash deserves no less than my best. #KevinSmith #vancouver
