Kevin Feige recently offered why Captain Marvel was dropped from The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, and now the Marvel Studios president and producer comments on the potential of MMA fighter and actress Ronda Rousey playing the role of Carol Danvers.
Rousey recently posted some fan art of herself as Captain Marvel, which went viral, stating she would like the role.
Now Feige weights in on the matter while speaking with IGN.
“I love it,” Feige said about the Ronda Rousey for Captain Marvel campaign. “That happens occasionally, and I think that’s a testament more to the strength of the characters.”
Feige continues with recollection of other actors vying for roles.
“Going back to my early days at Marvel, there were always various people campaigning to be Wolverine. I guess that was pre-Twitter and pre-Internet days, but still for some reason would pop up in Wizard Magazine. Wizard Magazine would always have ‘this person wants to play this role!’ It’s a testament to how great the characters are that it appeals to such a wide range of talented, talented people.”
Ronda Rousey was recently cast in the Roadhouse remake; Kevin Smith has also voiced his support for Rousey as Captain Marvel, and all the attention has even led to an offer for Rousey to star as Captain Marvel in a p-rn parody.
“Captain Marvel” has a November 2, 2018 release.
