Kelsey Grammer Goes From Transformers 4 To The Expendables 3; Replaces Nicolas Cage

Kelsey Grammar will be playing a villain in Transfomers 4 for Michael Bay, and now it is learned the actor will replace Nicolas Cage in The Expendables 3.

Back in November of 2012, Sylvester Stallone came out and stated reports of Nicolas Cage joining The Expendables 3 were false, but now Deadline is stating that role is going to Kelsey Grammer.

Kelsey Grammer’s role in The Expendables 3 is said to be that of Bonaparte, an ex-mercenary who helps the Expendables in their mission.

It’s noted that Grammer is close to the deal, and that the actor has been getting looked at for “tough guy” Hollywood roles after his great performance in the Starz series Boss, of which Bay took notice and cast Grammer in Transformers 4.

Kelsey Grammar also worked with Sylvester Stallone in Reach Me, and looks to be starring in a new TV series with Martin Lawrence, which Lionsgate (studios behind Expendable films) is behind.

The Expendables 3 has an August 15, 2014 release with an all-star cast including Jason Statham, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terry Crews, Antonio Banderas, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren and Wesley Snipes.

Here is the synopsis:

In The Expendables 3, Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Statham) and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables — but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.
