With the animated Justice League Dark movie coming out, many speculated that spelled the end of the live-action version, but it’s learned that is not the case.

Variety reports the live-action Dark Universe (Justice League Dark) movie is moving forward with Doug Liman attached to direct, with Scott Rudin producing, and Michael Gilio writing the script.

Doug Liman was previously attached to the Fox Studios Channing Tatum Gambit movie, but will no longer be directing that film.

Plot details are being kept under wraps about Justice League Dark, but it’s described as a “dark Justice League team that consists of John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna and Etrigan the Demon.”

It’s further said Justice League Dark will play a major role in the new D.C. Cinematic Universe.

Guillermo Del Toro was at one time up to direct Justice League Dark, but the report notes he got busy with other projects, with Rudin breathing new life into the project. Scott Rudin produced No Country for Old Men, The Truman Show, Ex Machina, The Newsroom, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Social Network and many more films.

Swamp Thing test footage recently hit the net for a live-action Justice League Dark movie as well.

Matt Reeves most recently played Constantine in the DC TV universe, which has been said to be separate from the DC movie universe. Colin Farrell was at one time rumored for Constantine.

No actors have been announced for Justice League Dark and WB has yet to officially announce the project.
