John Leguizamo Says Hell Yeah To Playing Joker In Batman Reboot

We’ve already heard from a couple of actors as well as fan choices about interest playing the new Batman in the reboot, but we can’t forget that with the return of the Caped Crusader has to come an all new Joker.

With Batman and Superman suiting up in the Man of Steel sequel it’s currently thought the Worlds’ Finest will be taking on Lex Luthor who teams with The Joker.

The movie is set for a 2015 release, which comes seven short years after Heath Ledger redefined the role in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight in 2008.

Arguably the defining actor for the Joker was Latino heartthrob, Cesar Romero, who made sure he kept his iconic mustache, having the special effects crew plaster white make-up over his upper lip to cover it up which can be seen in some close-ups.

Now we hear from another Latino actor who seems really interested in playing the Joker – and no stranger to evil clowns – with John Leguizamo.

Leguizamo played the demon clown Violator, in the 1997 Spawn movie, and he also stars in the upcoming Kick-Ass 2 comic book movie where he tells Desde Hollywood he is definitely interested.

“But hell yeah, I would do Batman,”  Leguizamo offers enthusiastically. “The Joker would be a blast!”

With the performance of Heath Ledger given during The Dark Knight considered one of the best showings for the Joker, why not go back to another of the best, but a bit updated, with another Latino behind the Man Who Laughs with John Leguizamo?

Superman/Batman, the sequel to Man of Steel, goes into production next year for a 2015 release starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.
