James Gunn has cut out the blood from the new Superman TV spot featuring David Corenswet as the new Man of Steel.
Below you can watch the spot and the trailer where clearly the blood has been cut out in the scene where Superman calls Krypto and is laying in the snow and whistles.
In the trailer, Superman is coughing up blood but not in the spot.
Why was the blood removed?
We don’t know the reason yet for the edit (someone ask Gunn on Threads) but it could either be that maybe the blood scene is too “mature” for TV (it was shown during the NFL games on Sunday) or maybe Gunn has reworked Superman and removed the blood footage.
I actually like it better without the blood. I also like this spot a lot better than the trailer as it comes off way more hopeful (read my review for the trailer here where I’m none too happy).
Gunn also ditches the Christopher Reeve / John William guitar score, which is horrible. The spot is also put together a lot better than the trailer, IMO. Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor also looks a lot better. Can Gunn please next fix Nathan Fillion? Watch below.
