Back in August saw set images revealing Benicio Del Toro back with his white hair for filming on Guardians fo the Galaxy 2. The Daily Mail posted the pics stating Benicio Del Toro was spotted on the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 set in-between takes walking back to his trailer:

However, now a producer on Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is stating The Collector is not in the sequel.
"I think part of it was about making the universe feel big," executive producer Jonathan Schwartz told ComicBook.com. "We love the Collector. We'd love to tell more of that story but I think there's so much more of the cosmic of the Marvel universe to explore that it's about establishing new worlds and going new places. It wasn't about visiting characters we've seen before. There are characters that'll come up who have arcs that are unfinished, but there's only mentions of the Collector in this movie."
The news about no Collector in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 follows Josh Brolin recently stating he is filming a scene with Benicio Del Toro for The Avengers: Infinity War. It sort of seems odd for the Collector to be left out of Guardians of the Galaxy 2, but will then be appearing in Avengers: Infinity War.
Perhaps James Gunn felt the Collector's role wasn't pivotal to the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 story and cut the scene, as apparently it wasn't a big role. Benicio Del Toro initially stated he wasn't coming back for Guardians of the Galaxy 2, but then the above set images surfaced.
"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" has a May 5, 2017 release starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Michael Rooker and Sean Gunn. New cast members include Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan and Kurt Russell.
Synopsis:
Set to the all-new sonic backdrop of Awesome Mixtape #2, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" continues the team's adventures as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill's true parentage.
