IT Sequel Getting Made Before Robotech Movie

IT Sequel Getting Made Before Robotech Movie

While IT has one week to go before the big release, the movie is already projected to come in at #1 next weekend at the box office with estimates ranging between $60-65 million.

Now talk of a sequel is already underway with Andy Muschetti returning to direct who says he is doing the IT sequel prior to the planned live-action Robotech movie.

Italy’s Bad Taste asked Andy Muschetti if he was going to to Robotech or IT 2 first:

It 2 is my priority. I would run Robotech, in case later.

Bad Taste: And do you have higher budget for this sequel?

A. Muschietti: Well … clearly I hope so!”

It seems with the upcoming success of IT that Andy Muschetti is in high demand as he was said to be a favorite to direct WB’s Justice League Dark, but instead he’ll be back on the IT sequel.

Regarding the live-action Robotech movie, James Wan was on board as director but left for Aquaman, and this past July it was announced Andy Muschetti is taking over who will be devloping the film for Sony, which is a high priority at the studio.

It has a September 8, 2017 release starring Bill Skarsgard as Pennwise the Clown, Finn Wolfhard, Owen Teague, Jaeden Lieberher, Nicholas Hamilton, Steven Williams, Megan Charpentier, Sophia Lillis, Wyatt Oleff, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Stephen Bogaert, Ari Cohen, Jack Grazer, Chosen Jacobs and Javier Botet.

New Line Cinema’s horror thriller “IT,” directed by Andrés Muschietti (“Mama”), is based on the hugely popular Stephen King novel of the same name, which has been terrifying readers for decades.

When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, a group of young kids are faced with their biggest fears when they square off against an evil clown named Pennywise, whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.
