Robert Downey Jr. gives two thumbs up

Robert Downey Jr and I spoke just after we wrapped, and he shared some very lovely words about my journey,” Thorne told Empire. “He told me how excited he was and that he’s rooting for it, too. I literally got two thumbs up. It’s really reassuring to know you’re not embarrassing Iron Man.”

Thorne also described how economically her Ironheart is different than Iron Man.

She’s dumpster-diving, whereas Tony Stark [was] this bajillionaire,” Thorne explained. “What she’s able to accomplish is remarkable.

Gangsters turned activists

Additional details previously revealed by the show’s apparent villain, The Hood played by Anthony Ramos, include the series is about gangsters in Chicago turned activists.

Parker Robinson in the comics is from New York. Our guy is from Chicago, our show is set there,” he said. “So I just wanted to make him super dynamic. We created this whole backstory with [Parker Robbins’] mom being from the Young Lords and raising him that way [as a gang member-turned-activist].

Ramos added, “Chicago plays a huge part in the identity of all of our characters and the identity of this show, so I’m really excited for people to experience that.
