ABC and Marvel TV have announced the release date for their Inhumans TV series movie, consisting of the first two episodes, at IMAX theaters.

Inhumans will debut in more than 1,000 IMAX theaters in 74 countries on Labor Day weekend next year, which is the first weekend of September, and will run for two weeks before airing as part of ABC's Fall lineup.

"We think this is a quadruple win — a win for Imax, a win for Marvel, a win for ABC Studios and a win for ABC to launch a show in an innovative way and get attention," Disney-ABC Television Group president Ben Sherwood told THR.

Details for the Inhumans IMAX event includes the first two episodes will be shot entirely with IMAX cameras, with subsequent action scenes (including scenes in the show set on the moon) also filmed using IMAX. ABC will then take the first two episodes and re-air them on televion with additional content. It's also reported both ABC, Marvel and IMAX will be mounting tailor-made marketing capaigns for Inhumans.

The article notes IMAX approached Marvel about the idea as they see it a good fit for them between the releases of Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok. IMAX also previously made it known they were closely talking with Marvel Studios (separate from Marvel TV) so the Inhumans IMAX event doesn't compete with the Marvel films.

It's also again pointed out that the Inhumans IMAX ABC series is not a spinoff of Agents of SHIELD, which we can speculate means all-new characters, such as Black Bolt and Medusa, which has previously been confirmed and are not on the SHIELD TV series.

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn also let it be known he thinks Vin Diesel will not be playing Black Bolt.
