Indiana Jones 5 Gets An Official Rating

Indiana Jones 5 Gets An Official Rating

As expected, Indiana Jones 5 has been given an official rating of PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association.

The MPAA gave the rating based on the film having “sequences of violence and action, language and smoking.”

The previous two Indiana Jones movies were rated PG-13, with Raiders of the Lost Ark and Temple of Doom both rated PG which was before there was a PG-13 rating.

However, Temple of Doom actually led to the creation of the PG-13 rating which was introduced on July 1, 1984, two months following the release of Temple of Doom in May.

Scenes within the flick such as Mola Ram ripping out a man’s heart and the end of Raiders actually nearly gave the films an R rating, but for Temple of Doom, Steven Spielberg argued with the MPAA and suggested something like a middle rating should be implemented. The first PG-13 movie? Red Dawn starring Patrick Swayze (awesome movie).
