Henry Cavill Cyborg Superman Fan Art Is Awesome

With the new release of the Reign of the Supermen animated movie, how about Henry Cavill as Cyborg Superman and Matt Bomer as the Eradicator?

Imagine if the DCEU did the “Death of Superman” story right and instead of the Batman vs. Superman fiasco, it led to a “Reign of the Supermen” feature film with Henry Cavill returning as Hank Henshaw, aka Cyborg Superman, and Matt Bomer, who was actually once in talks to play the Superman role, as the Eradicator?

Also making up the four “Reign of the Supermen” replacements for Superman includes Superboy and Steel. Barrett Digital, who whipped up the following fan art, also plans on releasing art for the remaining two characters as well. Any idea who should play them?

Super cool!

Regarding Henry Cavill returning to the role of Superman is unknown. With Man of Steel, Batman vs. Superman and Justice League not doing as well as hoped, there is the possibility that Henry Cavill, and even Ben Affleck, may not be returning to the DCEU. It has been said Henry Cavill and his manager are in heated discussions with Warner Bros. over a new contract. While Cavill’s manager is asking for a raise, WB has said to have scoffed at the idea because his Superman appearances didn’t live up to expectations at the box office. It should probably be said that the reasons for the movies not performing as expected are not the fault of Henry Cavill, but the fault of the Warner Bros. executives who interfered with Zack Snyder’s plans, which may be a part of the reason why the contract renegotiation discussions are so heated in the first place.

The head of Warner Bros. films recently let it be known DC is not focusing on doing a shared movie universe anymore, so if ever a Man of Steel 2 movie is made, it seems likely it will be a standalone Superman story. There is also talk of WB going with a Supergirl movie instead of a Man of Steel 2, with rumors pointing toward Brainiac as the villain. While I can’t speak for all fans, I think most fans would rather have Brainiac in a Man of Steel 2 with Henry Cavill back as Superman.
