Helldivers 2 Introduces New Terminid Strain, Major Orders

Arrowhead Game Studios has added a new strain of Terminid to Helldivers 2 as major orders have been given to to defend Fenrir III.

Update: Following successfully defending Fenrir III from the Terminid invasion, a new Major Order has been issued to explore Fori Prime where the Terminids are located in cities:

MAJOR ORDER: The Xenoentomology Center on TURING has released its first line of prototypes for Gloom-resistant equipment. Communications systems and spore filters are ready for use in low-density Gloom. This announcement comes not a day too soon. The astrophysicists on FORI PRIME, in their quest for knowledge about Dark Energy and the Meridian Singularity, have been depleting their allocated E-710 at an alarming rate. However, there is a Terminid ecosystem full of untapped potential within reach: the Gloom. Proven to increase E-710 potential in Terminids, the spore cloud represents a new frontier for science, progress, and the indomitable human spirit.

The Helldivers have been granted the privilege of being the first to venture into this new frontier. Fortuitously, Gloom conditions on FORI PRIME are remarkably favorable at the moment; the Helldivers are ordered to seize this opportunity and survey the planet for E-710.

Previously from Feb. 17, 2025:

The official X account posted a video showing off the new strain of Terminid, and also check out a player in action battling the behemoths.

“New strain encountered on Fenrir III,” states the report in the video. “Reports indicate discoloration, increased intelligence and drastic changes to hunting patterns.”

helldivers 2 predator strain terminid

New Predator Terminid strain variant

The Predator Hunter is a specialized, evolved strain forged by the Terminids’ extended exposure to The Gloom, enhancing their hunting abilities and turning them into even deadlier ambush predators.

The new strain is a variant of the Predator Terminid which seems to hunt in packs and jumps right at the Helldivers. There are a lot of them, and they’re pretty quick. Helldivers will need to work together, and the days of the lone wolf could be over as it seems necessary to work as a team to take them down and complete missions.

Update: There is also a new Predator Charger, which now jumps at the Helldiver.

Helldivers will also need to equip accordingly where loadouts should include turrets and faster replenishing stratagems. Since the new strain can get close to the Helldiver, weapons that can explode in your face at close ranges might want to be avoided. Update: I’ve been using the Stalwart at maximum bullets/velocity, which seems pretty effective as you get a lot of ammo and three reloads.

I’ve also encountered a bug hole nest that continuously spawns Bile Titans, and this was on Impossible (8).

Major order

The major order to defend Fenrir III offers that the Terminids are surging at the Gloom border. Fenrir III is under attack.

The order continues, “The Centre Of Science on this planet is of vital importance to stopping the Meridian Singularity. The Ministry of Science’s top astrophysicists are gathered there, researching both the Singularity itself and the Dark Energy that somehow powers its movement.

The order adds, “If the Terminids are not stopped, they will overrun the Center and slaughter the scientists within, which cannot be allowed to happen. All Helldivers are ordered to defend Fenrir III.”
