Harrison Ford is rumored for Marvel’s Thunderbolts as General Thunderbolt Ross.
The rumor comes from Jeff Sneider via YouTube who was the first to reveal that Blade lost its director and the problems surrounding the film.
Thunderbolts was announced at the D23 Expo, with Sneider claiming that the plan was to have Marvel announce Harrison Ford as part of the cast.
However, Sneider says Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy stopped the announcement because she didn’t want the announcement to take anything away from Indiana Jones 5 at D23.
Sneider also says that Marvel has denied Harrison Ford is joining Thunderbolts and playing Thunderbolt Ross, so bear that in mind, and he says Ford is not cast in the role.
What could be happening is that Marvel wants Harrison Ford to play Ross, but that Ford declined the role, or that Ford does have the role but Marvel is waiting to make the big announcement.
“Multiple sources have indicated that Harrison Ford either is or was the studio’s top choice to star in the Thunderbolts movie as General Ross himself,” said Sneider.
William Hurt first played General Ross in 2008 The Incredible Hulk movie and passed away on March 13, 2022 at the age of 71 due to complications from prostate cancer. His last appearance in the MCU was in Black Widow.
Thunderbolts has a July 26, 2024 release date.
Jake Schreier is the director, with the film starring Florence Pugh as Yelena (the new Black Widow), Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, Taskmaster (Olga Kurilenko), Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina, Ghost (Hannah John Karmen), and David Harbour as Red Guardian.
