It’s claimed a big bomb is about to drop on the MCU and that it is Harrison Ford who will play Marvel’s Red Hulk and become the President of the United States.
Recently saw it announced that Ford will be playing General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, replacing the late William Hurt, in Captain America: New World Order and the Thunderbolts movie.
A bomb will be dropped on the MCU says David Harbour
According to David Harbour, who is returning as the Red Guardian in Thunderbolts, there is going to be a big “bomb” dropped on the MCU.
“It’ll be funny. It’ll be weird. It’ll be action. And then we’re also going to drop a bomb, which is cool,” Harbour told io9.
What do the Harrison Ford Red Hulk rumors say?
According to rumors, that big bomb is none other than Harrison Ford where Thaddeus Ross goes from Secretary of State to President of the United States as well as becoming the Red Hulk.
According to a leaked description from Daniel RPK, Ross in Captain America: New World Order is described as:
“The former Lieutenant General of the United States Army and Secretary of State, now President of the United States. Using radiation siphoned transformed Ross into the Red Hulk.”
Kevin Feige might be adapting Dark Reign
Redditors also theorize that the story surrounding both Captain America: New World Order and Thunderbolts might actually be in part based on the Dark Reign Marvel Comics event.
That event took place after Secret Invasion involving the Skrulls invading Earth where Norman Osborn leveraged himself and became in charge of the Thunderbolts but disbanded the team and was instead given control over HAMMER by the president of the United States.
Well, Osborn’s goal was to utilize other Marvel villains (Doctor Doom, Emma Frost, Namor, Female Loki, and The Hood) in order to achieve his plans for the new world order, all the while wearing the Iron Patriot armor and forming a team of “Dark Avengers” made up of villains.
Is Kevin Feige going with Harrison Ford as Red Hulk instead of Norman Osborn?
So what may be happening with the MCU is that instead of using Norman Osborn who is owned by Sony due to the Spider-Man rights, Feige might be going with Harrison Ford and Ross, as Ross has been a part of the MCU since its beginnings with the 2008 The Incredible Hulk movie.
Instead of Norman and the Iron Patriot, the MCU will use Ross and the Red Hulk.
Is Secret Invasion related to Captain America: New World Order and Thunder Bolts?
Feige and the MCU are also releasing the Secret Invasion event series on Disney Plus, so this all could be related.
Captain America: New World Order gets released on May 3, 2024, and is described by director Julius Onah as a paranoid thriller.
Thunderbolts gets released on July 26, 2024.
Secret Invasion is thought to hit Disney Plus in the early Spring of 2023.
It also sounds like Feige might be going with some sort of political commentary to mirror the present day with this story, which interestingly enough, is something James Gunn is rumored to be wanting to do with his DCU.
