Godzilla vs King Kong: “Massive Monster Brawl” Says Director

Back in 2014 saw the start of the new Legendary MonsterVerse with the release of Godzilla and then came Kong: Skull Island.

Now Godzilla: King of the Monsters is in development with all the movies leading to the big release of Godzilla Vs. King Kong in 2020.

Screen Crush caught up with director Adam Wingard who offers Godzilla vs. King Kong will feature massive monster brawls, but interestingly enough, Wingard doesn’t want the movie to be just a slugfest as he wants viewers to be emotionally invested.

That’s what I want to do, I really want you to take those characters seriously. I want you to be emotionally invested, not just in the human characters, but actually in the monsters. If I had my way, I want people to really be teary-eyed at the end of the movie, and be that invested in to what’s going on.

It’s a massive monster brawl movie. There’s lots of monsters going crazy on each other, but at the end of the day I want there to be an emotional drive to it. I want you to be emotionally invested in them. I think that’s what’s going to make it really cool.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters hits March 22, 2019, with Godzilla vs. Kong opening May 22, 2020.

Who do you think will win the big fight? Godzilla? Or King Kong?!
