Recall that Brie Larson also starred in the MonsterVerse movie Kong: Skull Island.

The meme posted to r/Godzilla, which has over 300 up-votes, features rapper Drake putting up his hand to Captain Marvel Brie Larson, but being happy and pointing to Mothra from Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

Fans still don’t like Captain Marvel Brie Larson

“Ok so can someone actually tell me what the role of Brie Larson was in Kong?” questioned Redditor user PSB911406. “It felt so unnecessary. Honestly felt like you could consolidate the Biologist and Larson to create one character and it wouldn’t make a difference to the story as a whole. Felt similar about a lot of the Soldier guys as well. It just felt like too many people with not enough arcs.”

Another fan remarked that at least the movie version is better than the comic book version.

“MCU Captain marvel >>> 616 Captain Marvel personality-wise trust me. Her comics are politically contentious and pretentious. She was also the main antagonist of Civil War 2 even,” Reddit user ATrueBlueGamer posted in the comments.

Per the norm, some of the Marvel zombie fans defended Captain Marvel, but other Godzilla fans managed to chime in with their opinion as well.

“I have nothing against her. I liked Brie Larson when she did Kong, but I really couldn’t get into Captain Marvel. She was better in Endgame, imo,” noted UnlikelyKaiju.

“Pointing out bad characters isn’t inherently sexual,” DooD_Eternal responded to accusations of the sub being filled with misogyny and sexism.

Captain Marvel Brie Larson Avengers Endgame

Captain Marvel only successful because of Avengers movies

Interestingly enough, while the Captain Marvel movie made over a billion dollars at the box office, Marvel Studios has yet to officially announce and give the sequel a release date.

A lot of people think the only reason Captain Marvel did so well at the box office is that Marvel Studios sandwiched it between its two biggest movies of all time with Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. More than likely an Ant-Man movie would have hit a billion dollars if it was released at the same spot; so now what is Captain Marvel going to do when it doesn’t have two Avengers movie to promote it?

Of course, that could be why the sequel hasn’t officially been announced, which is because Marvel realizes the only way the character and films will be a success is if Captain Marvel and Brie Larson ride on the coattails of the Avengers films.

As noted above, the comics are horrible and have been rebooted many, many times by Marvel Comics in various attempts to “sell” the character to its audience, which, similar to the movie, fails time and time again.
