A new image of King Ghidorah has been unleashed for Godzilla: King of the Monsters featuring a look at the three-headed kaiju about to take on a suped-up stealth bomber.
It’s possible the stealth bomber might be nuclear armed, as director Michael Dougherty recently confirmed the humans will have massive weapons of their own. Another possibility is the bomber could have the Oxygen Destroyer weapon as part of its payload; the Oxygen Destroyer was featured in the original 1954 movie to kill Godzilla, and the 1995 film Godzilla vs. Destoroyah.
“[The Oxygen Destroyer] appears as an important key item to the story, this is not a cameo,” Dougherty said in a recent interview. “Of course there will also be other weapons created by humanity that will be shown.”
Godzilla: King of the Monsters gets released on May 31, 2019 directed by Michael Dougherty starring Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, Charles Dance, Kyle Chandler, Bradley Whitford, Thomas Middleditch, Sally Hawkins, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Ziyi Zhang, and Ken Watanabe.
Following the global success of Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
