We get an update on the God of War live-action TV series which is in development at Amazon Prime Video which is now confirmed to have two seasons. The series has Ronald D. Moore on board as the showrunner who is known for Outlander, For All Mankind, Battlestar: Galactica, Star Trek: Voyager, and more.
God of War seems a if it’s in good hands with Moore attached, but while talking with Katee Sackhoff, Moore’s comments have raised a few eyebrows in the gaming community. It’s not like you can blame fans as Hollywood hasn’t done the best job of adapting gaming properties. Likewise, Amazon hasn’t done the best job of adapting most IPs.

What did Ron Moore say?
What has fans concerned is that Moore said he’s not a gamer but at least he confirms Amazon is invested with two seasons:
“Right now, I’m working on an adaptation of a video game called God of War that’s a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of, and they have asked me to come in, so I’m literally in the writer’s room and working on that. That’s my new thing.”
Sackhoff is familiar with the game and points out “that’s such a daunting property.”
“Yeah [shrugs], and I’m not a gamer, so it’s even more like ‘Okay ,I’ve never done this before.'”
Sackhoff then questions if he tried to play the game.
“I’ve tried. I’m not a gamer. You know I took a stab at it but… I grew up on the arcade era you. You go down and you put your quarters in and bang on the buttons, so I could do that. I’ll play Defender… Asteroids.”
“The controllers now… Press R1. Which one’s R1? Oh, I’m dead… I can’t quite get over that [laughs].”
Should fans be concerned?
So Ron Moore stating he isn’t a gamer has fans concerned, but he did continue and say his wife is a gamer and has been playing Skyrim for the past fifteen years.
While Moore might not be a gamer, he makes good television, so hopefully, Moore comes through for fans of God of War.

What is God of War about?
While the plot for the live-action Amazon series hasn’t been released, the God of War video game franchise follows the story of Kratos, a Spartan warrior who becomes entangled with gods, monsters, and mythological realms.
Originally set in Greek mythology, the early games focus on Kratos’ vengeance against the Olympian gods, especially Ares and Zeus, after being tricked into killing his own family. Fueled by rage and tragedy, Kratos slaughters gods, titans, and beasts in brutal combat.
The newer games shift to Norse mythology, where Kratos, now older and more reserved, lives with his son Atreus. After the death of Atreus’ mother, the two embark on a journey to fulfill her final wish—scattering her ashes atop the highest peak in the realms. Along the way, they clash with Norse gods like Baldur, Thor, and Odin, and Kratos must confront his violent past while trying to guide Atreus on a better path.
The next God of War game is said to involve Egyptian gods.
