Ghostbusters: Afterlife First Look: Plot, Images Ahead Of Trailer

Sony Pictures releases a first look at Ghostbusters: Afterlife in the form of details about the plot, images and a new poster, ahead of the trailer that drops on Monday.

The film sees The Leftovers’ Carrie Coon play single mom Callie who brings her family to Oklahoma as they inherit property from her father that she never knew much about, which is one of the original Ghostbusters.

I, Tonya’s Mckenna Grace plays her science-obsessed daughter Phoebe, and Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard plays her gearhead son Trevor.

It’s also revealed that Paul Rudd plays a summer school teacher named Mr. Grooberson who is obsessed with the original Ghostbusters and who offers knowledge about the “Manhattan Crossrip,” which is the event that happened in NYC in the original film.

Further details include that when the family arrives in Oklahoma, they find Ecto-1, a mountain of books and lots of bizarre technology, a PKE meter, and a ghost trap, which Paul Rudd can be seen holding below.

“As the family arrives at an old farm, they begin to discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters,” director Ivan Reitman tells Vanity Fair. “Trevor and Phoebe are about to find out who their grandfather was and whether they’re ready to pick up the proton pack themselves.”

A strange nearby mine will also factor into the plot, which can be seen below.

Regarding the original Ghostbusters, it’s unclear how much they will be a factor in the movie, but Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd, and Sigourney Weaver will also return.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife opens July 10, 2020.
