Rachel Zegler’s Snow White Bomb Blamed On Politics, Says Gal Gadot

Rachel Zegler’s Snow White Bomb Blamed On Politics, Says Gal Gadot

Gal Gadot is breaking her silence on the Snow White disaster, and she thinks politics played a big role in the film’s failure.

In a new interview on Israeli TV’s The A Talks, Gadot reflected on the movie’s reception and revealed she expected Snow White to be a major hit until outside events changed everything.

“I really enjoyed filming that movie, I really had fun,” Gadot said. “Even working alongside Rachel Zegler. We laughed and we talked, we had fun. I was positive the movie was going to be a huge hit.”

Blames Post-October 7 Backlash

Gadot, who served in the Israeli military and is openly pro-Israel, believes the October 7 attacks and the resulting pressure on celebrities to speak out politically had a direct effect on the film’s performance.

“And then Oct. 7 happened… there was a lot of pressure put on celebrities, actors, creators to post against Israel. And it happened,” she said.

Gadot added that she always tries to give people “context” about the situation in Israel but ultimately, “people make up their own minds.”

“I was disappointed that the movie was incredibly affected by all of that and that it didn’t do well at the box office. But it is what it is. You win some, you lose some.”

Here is Gadot’s full quote:

“I really enjoyed filming that movie, I really had fun. Even working alongside Rachel Zegler. We laughed and we talked, we had fun. I was positive the movie was going to be a huge hit. And then Oct. 7 happened, and what happened all over in different industries, not just Hollywood, there was a lot of pressure put on celebrities, actors, creators to post against Israel. And it happened. I can always explain and try to give people in the world context about the situation and the reality in Israel, and I always do that. But at the end, people make up their own minds. And I was disappointed that the movie was incredibly affected by all of that and that it didn’t do well at the box office. But it is what it is, you win some, you lose some.”

Politics to blame? Or Rachel Zegler?

Gadot’s comments add a new wrinkle to Snow White’s downfall. The movie had already faced heavy criticism from fans over Rachel Zegler’s public comments bashing the original and pushing politics during the press tour.

While Gadot blames Hollywood, a producer’s son on Snow White blamed Zegler and said his father actually had to go personally visit Zegler to tell her to cool down.

Snow White ended up underperforming massively at the box office and was later revealed by Disney to be a confirmed loss in its investor report.

In the same interview, she revealed she recently finished filming the action thriller The Runner.

“I filmed a movie in London, Jaron my husband and our two eldest daughters stayed in Los Angeles, and I was in London with our two youngest daughters,” she said. “And I was on location outside of London, so my parents and the nanny had the girls with them. All of a sudden, I felt incredibly lonely. During filming, I was targeted by pro-Palestinian protesters that decided to target and attack me personally. It was a difficult experience, very complicated and unpleasant. I felt alone.”

Gal Gadot also won’t be back as Wonder Woman, as James Gunn has canceled Wonder Woman 3 and is recasting the role.
