With Warner Bros. rebooting Batman under Zack Snyder and Ben Affleck, Christian Bale made comments recently where he stated he was a bit jealous he was no longer the Caped Crusader.
While doing press for his latest movie, Birdman, Michael Keaton is asked if he is jealous of Ben Affleck.
Keatonâs response?
No. Do you know why? Because Iâm Batman. Iâm very secure in that.
Weâre not too sure Adam West would agree, but Keaton goes on to comment how Tim Burton paved the way for superhero movies as we know them today.
Tim changed, or started, everything. And Iâm proud of the choice I made, in terms of how to play Batman. Itâs probably easier now because Tim paved the way, and if I did anything to pave the way, Iâm proud of that, too. Iâve never seen [a superhero movie] beginning to end. Oh actually, I saw the first Spider-Man â I thought that was really good. You can step into it more easily now, is my guess. Technically, [superhero movies] do everything for you. They create a world where all youâve basically got to do is show up, not f*ck it up too much and youâll come off OK.
