I told you guys The Marvels is Kevin Feige’s wannabe Barbie movie, and now check out a first look at Princess Brie Larson in the flick.
Rumors first offered the scene would be in the flick, and then merchandise for McDonald’s Happy Meals confirmed both Princess Carol and Prince Yan, who is being played by Park Seo-joon.
We see the image below also features captions as it appears as if Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau says to Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers, “Princess?”
The scene is said to take place on an alien planet where the people communicate by singing. Reportedly, Kevin Feige cut the singing parts because they were deemed too goofy, as a result of all the goofiness in Quantumania.
The image below also features Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers whispering, “I’m feeling so many feelings right now.”
Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel is also a part of the scene.
Update: The trailer has leaked, and it is Iman Vellani’s Kamala who says the line.
Similar scene in the comics
There is a similar scene that takes place in the Captain Marvel comics where Prince Yan has a history with Carol Danvers, and the custom of his planet is to allow only the women to choose their spouse, so that means the males of the planet cannot consent and have no choice who they marry.
So in the comics, Carol Danvers helps Prince Yan and Lila Cheney by fighting for Lila, as neither one of them wants to marry the other. Carol wins the battle, marries and becomes Yan’s bride, and then gives Prince Yan the right to choose his wife.
In order to become King, Prince Yan needs to marry, so Tic volunteers, and then when married and Yan becomes King, he abolishes the custom.
So it appears as if Feige is taking a page out of the comics, as well as Barbie and Disney princesses by marrying Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers to Park Seo-joon’s Prince Yan in The Marvels.
Rumors also offer the marriage comes about as a mistake, possibly due to the miscommunication as a result of the planet communicating through singing.
The Marvels has a Nov. 10 release directed by Nia DaCosta also starring Zawe Ashton as the villain of the movie Dar-Benn, with Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.
Here is the official synopsis:
Carol Danvers AKA Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence.
