Kevin Feige has lost, and James Gunn has won round one in the battle between DC and Marvel as the new Fantastic Four trailer has failed to meet or surpass the Superman trailer in terms of views.
How many views did the Fantastic Four trailer have?
Released on Tuesday – where Marvel made fans wait over an hour for the release – the Fantastic Four trailer scored 202 million views in its first 24 hours across social media platforms, which includes YouTube, Facebook, X, Instagram, and TikTok.
It’s also learned the Fantastic Four trailer has the third-best views for Marvel, trailing Deadpool & Wolverine (365M) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (355M). It’s also the most views Marvel Studios has ever seen for a non-sequel movie.
Deadline adds Social volume for Fantastic Four: First Steps hit close to a half million.
How many views did James Gunn’s Superman trailer have?
James Gunn released his Superman trailer on Thursday, Dec. 19, the week before Christmas. Gunn announced that his Superman trailer had over 250 million views with a million Social posts.
“Krypto really did take us home: With over 250 million views and a million social posts, Superman is officially the most viewed and the most talked about trailer in the history of both DC and Warner Bros,” Gunn posted on X in December.
He added, “This is because of all of you: thank you! We’re incredibly grateful and, most of all, excited to share this movie with you in July. Happy Holidays!”

DC vs Marvel back on: Superman vs Fantastic Four
DC vs. Marvel is back on, as the films only open two weeks apart in the summer.
James Gunn actually first announced his July 11, 2025, release date for Superman. Typical of Kevin Feige, Feige then announced Fantastic Four will be released two weeks later on July 25.
It’s known Feige likes to play follow the leader and go after DC.
Feige decided to change up Captain America 3 to Civil War instead of Serpent Society when Zack Snyder announced Batman vs. Superman. Likewise, it’s thought Feige went with the bomb of Eternals because of Zack Snyder’s Justice League. It’s also thought Feige went with the Multiverse because of Snyder’s original plans for The Flash and the DCEU.
Interestingly enough, once Snyder exited the DCEU, the DC and Marvel movies began falling apart. Maybe some healthy competition is just what everybody needs?
