Marvel insiders at Comic-Con have filled me in on information about the Fantastic Four movie.
Note: A big time SPOILER follows, so be forewarned.
Back in 2019 or so, insiders filled me in that an origin for the Fantastic Four being floated around Marvel involved the FF always having been a part of the MCU. The origin would have taken a page out of Captain America. The FF would have existed in the ’60s or so and would have been friends with Hank and Janet Pym. Well, the FF disappear into the Quantum Realm or Negative Zone. When they step out, it’s years later in the present day, as if no time went by and they haven’t aged. So what would have explained why the FF haven’t been around the MCU.
Well, that isn’t happening. Instead, the Fantastic Four origin is going the Multiverse route but they are keeping the 1960s origin. I think this has already been said and even Feige hinted or said it: The world of the Fantastic Four is set in a different universe on an alternate earth.
I’m told (per the poster art), in their world, it’s the 1960s. I’m told that JFK is alive in their universe, and such.
Major spoiler:
Now here is the big spoiler: Julia Garner has been cast as the Silver Surfer.
Well, she doesn’t make it out alive. Julia Garner as the Silver Surfer either gets killed right away or during the first act of the movie.
We’ll probably find out more about Fantastic Four at Comic-Con tonight (update: trailer released). Marvel has teased the FF with the banners that line the streets of San Diego. They also put out that cool drone display of the Fantastic Four and Galactus. Pedro Pascal has also teased the start of filming on his social media. See below.
Update: Scooper Daniel RPK is claiming Robert Downey’s Doctor Doom is from the same Earth as the Fantastic Four.
Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom is reportedly from the same universe as the Fantastic Four in The 'FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS'.
