A newly surfaced email from the Epstein files shows a Hollywood insider confidently predicting multiple Oscar outcomes before nominations were officially announced â and getting them right.
The email, dated January 24, 2011, was sent by veteran Hollywood publicist Peggy Siegal to an email address associated with Jeffrey Epstein. The subject line simply reads: âAnne Hathaway.â
At the time the message was sent, Oscar nominations had not yet been announced.
Email Predicts Oscar Outcomes Ahead of Announcements
In the email, Siegal writes that Anne Hathaway had just landed the role of Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Christian Bale.
Siegal then goes further, making a series of declarative awards claims:
- Nolanâs Inception âwill be nominated for Oscarsâ
- Bale âwill win Best Supporting Actorâ for The Fighter
- Hathaway âhosts the Oscarsâ
The language is not speculative. Siegal does not write âcouldâ or âmight.â She states the outcomes as certainties.
What Happened Next
Those predictions later proved accurate.
Inception went on to receive eight Academy Award nominations and won four Oscars. Bale won Best Supporting Actor for The Fighter. Hathaway was selected as Oscar host.
All of this occurred after the email was sent.
Timing Is the Key Detail
The email timestamp places it one day before the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences officially announced the nominations for the 2011 Oscars.
While Inception and Bale were widely considered strong contenders, the outcomes were not yet public or confirmed at the time Siegal sent the message.
