Sony showed off the first footage and trailer for the new Jumanji movie at Cinemacon, which stars Dwayne Johnson as Dr. Smolder Bravestone, Karen Gillan as Ruby Roundhouse, Jack Black as Professor Shelly Oberon, and Kevin Hart plays Moose Finbar.
While the footage isn’t online as of yet, a description of the Jumanji trailer is available that offers plot details.
The Jumanji clip features four high school students who get sent to detention to clean up an abandonded school basement where they discover an old video game from the 90s. The four students begin to play the video game and choose their characters, which then sees them transported to the world of Jumanji and becoming those characters.
The jock of the group becomes Kevin Hart’s avatar; the popular girl becomes Jack Black; with the nerdy-looking kid becoming Dwayne Johnson, and the wallflower becoming Karen Gillan. Footage is also shown of a rhinocerous stampede, a throw back to the original Jumanji movie (this is basically a sequel).
The plot centers on the four high school students becoming their avatars where they have to escape the world of Jumanji with the help of a guide, played by Nick Jonas.
Jumanji has a December 22, 2017 release directed by Jake Kasdan.
