Doctor Who Canceled? Disney Deal Reportedly Dead as Davies Hints at Hiatus

Doctor Who Canceled? Disney Deal Reportedly Dead as Davies Hints at Hiatus

Russell T Davies doubled down on the wokeness with his arrogance and the Disney money and has burned Doctor Who to the ground. Now, with rumors swirling that Disney is pulling the plug on Season 3 and that a possible hiatus is looming, cancellation seems more likely than ever.

Reports claim Ncuti Gatwa wants out, with rumors also suggesting Disney is demanding a new Timelord and the removal of Russell T Davies as showrunner if there’s to be a Season 3.

It’s known the viewership is the worst in the show’s entire 60-year history. Rumors have also offered Doctor Who could go on hiatus for five to ten years.

Hiatus coming to Doctor Who?

While speaking with the BBC’s Newsround, Davies hints that the big hiatus is coming, which would also mean Disney would be out of the Doctor Who business:

“I kind of know that the Doctor’s reached the status of, like, Robin Hood. Sometimes there might be a pause, and during that pause, the viewers of Newsround now will grow up a few years and start writing stories and they’ll bring it back. So I have absolute faith that that will survive because I am living proof of it and that’s what happens to good ideas. No good idea ever dies.”

Ncuti Gatwa also added, “I don’t know do you? I don’t know anything.”

Latest rumors: Disney Cuts Ties With Doctor Who

The latest rumors actually offer that Disney has stopped talking with the BBC and with Davies’ production company, Bad Wolf.

It’s claimed that Disney wasn’t happy at all with Season 1, but that the BBC and Davies promised Disney things would improve with last year’s Christmas Special. However, much like Season 1, the viewership was really poor.

It’s said the BBC and Davies again told Disney things would improve with Season 2, which is set to premiere Saturday on Disney+. However, it doesn’t look promising.

It’s claimed that Disney will have another meeting with the BBC following Season 2, but it’s said that the BBC is already convinced the Doctor Who deal with Disney is over.

YouTuber Tachyon Pulse Podcast adds that Davies’ production company is owned by Sony, who has a good relationship with Amazon. Similar to what the YouTuber said about Disney, the YouTuber says Amazon also wants the entire Doctor Who library in order to pick up the show (which seems unlikely, and hence what Davies says about Doctor Who going on hiatus above).
