Disney and Fox Deal May Be Announced This Week

Marvel fans’ dreams are coming closer to a reality which will see the X-Men, Deadpool, Fantastic Four, Silver Surfer, Galactus and related characters back at Marvel.

A new report is now stating the Disney and Fox Studios deal may be announced this week.

The latest comes from Bloomberg who offers a source familiar with the matter says Disney may announce the transfer of the Hollywood properties this week.

Part of the deal would see Fox Studios’ James Murdoch likely offered a senior position at Disney, with a Murdoch trust also getting a small stake in the Disney company.

In addition to the Marvel properties, Disney would acquire: “Fox’s movie and TV studio, networks including FX and National Geographic, and international assets including Star India’s TV channels and a 39 percent stake in European satellite provider Sky Plc. Disney would also get Fox’s stake in U.S. streaming-video provider Hulu, doubling its ownership to 60 percent.”

Fox would retain Fox News, the Fox broadcast network and Fox Sports 1.

According to the report, the talks between Disney and Fox have been going on for the past two months.

It’s further said the deal would need to be approved by the U.S. Justice Department, who has recently sued to block AT&T from purchasing Time Warner and Warner Bros. over monopoly concerns.

The article does note the deal between Disney and Fox hasn’t been finalized and could still fall apart.
