Marvel continues promoting Deadpool & Wolverine in a big way as a new image still featuring Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds has been released which teases a connection to the Loki Disney+ series.
That’s not all as a new TV spot has made its way online featuring new footage. Watch below.
The image comes via EW.com‘s Summer preview and features Wolverine and Deadpool in the TVA, the Time Variance Authority, which was featured in both seasons of Loki.
Hugh Jackman changed things
Director Shawn Levy says he started planning Deadpool 3 with Ryan Reynolds back in 2022 when they were doing The Adam Project, but everything changed once Hugh Jackman agreed to do the movie and return following Logan.
“Everything changed radically on the day that Hugh called Ryan,” Levy revealed. “We had been workshopping a lot of ideas about possible stories for a third Deadpool movie. Those were story ideas that were more sequelly to the first two Deadpools, but None of them imagined such a seismic shift. I can safely say that the story completely changed and, in fact, came to us very, very quickly starting that day.”
Levy continued, “Everyone assumed that Hugh’s return was the result of me or Ryan pestering or pitching him relentlessly,” Levy says. “But even more miraculously, this was the result of a Hugh Jackman epiphany. He wanted to do this team-up of Logan and Deadpool, and so it really was a sky-opening gift from the heavens type of phone call that changed everything.”
On those special appearances
Levy also touched upon the cameos that fans will see (there are a ton of rumors!).
“I’ll say we didn’t start off with a wishlist,” Levy said. “From the day we started devising this Deadpool and Wolverine story, we let the story dictate the characters, not the other way around. Aaron and his return as Pyro was an outgrowth of that, and that applies to pretty much all the characters you’ll see in the movie.”
Deadpool & Wolverine gets released on July 26.
