Deadpool 2 Taking On Star Wars Han Solo; Gambit Loses Director

Following Jumanji being able to take down Star Wars: The Last Jedi, now Fox Studios has moved up the release date for Deadpool 2, which will see the film open just one week prior to Disney’s Han Solo movie.

Deadpool 2 moves from a June 1, 2018 release date to a May 18th release date; Han Solo opens May 25th.

We see Fox Studios has enough faith and is confident in Deadpool 2 as Star Wars is no longer the juggernaut it once was, which is due to the lackluster efforts on the part of Disney’s LucasFilm team as people are not happy with the direction of the new Star Wars that sees “out with the old and in with the new” — fans, that is.

It’s also learned that both New Mutants and Gambit see changes as well.

New Mutants sees its release date move from April 13, 2019 to February 22, 2019.

The Channing Tatum Gambit movie moves from February 14, 2019, to June 7, 2019, and now Deadline reports director Gore Verbinksi has left the project due to scheduling issues with several other projects on the director’s plate.

The reason cited for the release date changes for New Mutants and Gambit is said to be to avoid scheduling issues overseas where the two films would have opened at the same time.

Gambit is also currently searching for a new director, and it is said Fox Studios thought the movie would do better as a Summer flick as Gambit is described as having a heavy comedic tone revolving around a heist (via THR).
