David Ayer says he is done with DC and that the “Ayer Cut” of Suicide Squad won’t be getting released.
It’s known the 2016 first version of the movie released in theaters is a lot different than what David Ayer intended as the studio changed things.
So similar to the Snyder Cut of Justice League, there has been a campaign to get the Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad released with David Ayer also publicly backing the release.
However, following years of tweeting about it, now Ayer says he is done with DC.
“I’m done with DC,” he tweeted.
In a deleted tweet, Ayer said, “Nothing about the situation feels good. Studio has no interest in releasing it. It’s time to run and not look back.”

Recently has seen Ayer tweet extensively about his cut, even releasing new images and details about his version of Joker, played by Jared Leto, but again, his Suicide Squad won’t see the light of day under the current regime at Warner Bros. Discovery.
“Joker is formidable intense and a force of nature in my cut,” Ayer said in December in a deleted tweet. “Not unfocused and silly. In my cut he has a story arc that hangs powerfully over the entire film. In the studio cut he’s a prop not a character.”
While the director may be done with DC, up next is his The Beekeeper movie starring Jason Statham which gets released on Jan. 12.
