Dave Bautista Reacts To James Gunn Getting Fired

Yesterday saw the shocking news that Disney fired director James Gunn from Marvel Studios and Guardians of the Galaxy 3 over tweets from ten years ago that resurfaced and joked about rape and pedophilia.

Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn released the following statement about Gunn’s dismissal from the company: “The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James’ Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio’s values, and we have severed our business relationship with him.”

James Gunn has since responded, and now Guardians of the Galaxy Drax actor Dave Bautista reacts, and he’s not at all happy.

“I will have more to say but for right now all I will say is this.. @JamesGunn is one of the most loving, caring, good natured people I have ever met,” Dave Bautista posted on Twitter. “He’s gentle and kind and cares deeply for people and animals. He’s made mistakes. We all have. Im NOT ok with what’s happening to him.”

James Gunn’s tweets that resurfaced are said to be retaliation for his hard stance on Twitter against President Trump. It’s actually not a surprise about Gunn’s “sense of humor” as Disney had to know about it as questionable blog posts surfaced when he was first hired back around 2012; however, in the wake of the #metoo movement, and the fact the tweets were really, really disturbing, Disney decided to let Gunn go.

Based on Dave Bautista’s tweet, I’m starting to wonder if he will be back for Guardians of the Galaxy 3? I’m also wondering if the cast in a show of solidarity will stand behind Gunn and not do more Marvel movies?
