Dave Bautista Cast In “Dogtown” Comic Book Movie

Star of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Dave Bautista, is set to tackle another comic book movie with Dogtown, an adaptation of the Dark Horse Comics Body Bags series.

John Wick 2 writer Kyle Ward is writing Dogtown, which is a comic book series created by Jason Pearson described as a stylized, irreverent action-comedy.

Dave Bautista will play Mack Delgado, a professional bounty hunter tough enough to be called a “body bagger.” Things take a turn for him when the teenage daughter he never knew he had turns up on his doorstep, hoping to reconnect with the father she lost long ago.

Dogtown looks to start filming this Fall.

“This is our first big graphic novel based action movie, which marks an exciting transition at the company,” Bold Films producer Gary Michael Walters told Deadline. “We are moving into larger budgets, something that started with Stronger. We want to make baby blockbusters, where you take wall to wall action, and then scalpel back some of that action and inject more plot, theme and character. The hope is to give a big entertainment experience with a lot of ideas and interesting characters. The ambition of Dogtown is to have a Deadpool tone of humor and action, but at its core, Dogtown is a father-daughter love story about a tough man who reconnects with his daughter. That is the spine. We want to make action movies with heart.”

Dave Bautista is also attached to the Valiant Comics Eternal Warrior movie and is said to be featured in The Avengers 4.

It’s been questioned if Dave Bautista will be back for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 as, in addition to Drax seemingly meeting his maker in The Avengers: Infinity War, Bautista is said to want a lengthy return to the WWE.

Dave Bautista also has a number of other projects in the works including Hotel Artemis, Escape Plan 2: Hades, Final Score, Master Z: Ip Man Legacy, Escape Plan 3: Devil’s Station and Stuber.
