The Dark Knight Rises (2012): First Four Hour Cut Received Standing Ovation

Last Friday a rough cut for The Dark Knight Rises was shown off to Warner Bros. executives.

Now we are receiving our first reports on the reception.

Christopher Nolan’s final Batman installment is said to have received — a standing ovation!

Filmmaker Ryan Toussieng tweeted the news:

First cut of The Dark Knight Rises screens for Warners execs… insiders say it received a standing ovation… on a FIRST CUT #fewmoremonths

Obviously the studio would be enthusiastic for Nolan’s last Batman movie, but a standing ovation for a rough cut sure says something. With Nolan having time left to pore over the footage, once the final edits are complete, fans of the billion dollar franchise should be quite happy.

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters July 20th, 2012 and is directed by Christopher Nolan starring Christian Bale as Batman, Tom Hardy as Bane, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, Michael Cain as Alfred, Juno Temple and Josh Pence as a young Ra’s al Ghul.
