It’s confirmed that Danai Gurira will be back as Okoye in Black Panther 2 as well as an origin spinoff headed to the Disney Plus streaming service.

The news isn’t all that surprising has Okoye is general of the Dora Milaje, and as seen in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Black Panther’s Florence Kasumba returned as her character Ayo, another member of the Dora Milaje.

What will be interesting to see in the sequel is how they deal with Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa as Okoye has served the Black Panther as a personal bodyguard.

It’s guessed there will be a new Black Panther or two, so will Okoye serve as the bodyguard of the new Black Panther/s or will there be some sort of conflict?

Black Panther Wakanda Forever

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Last month saw Marvel Studios reveal the official release date and title for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever with the following details:

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – July 8, 2022

The sequel to the history-making Black Panther, written and directed by Ryan Coogler, will explore the incomparable world of Wakanda.

The first movie released in 2018 was a smash hit for Marvel and the MCU as it brought in over $1.3 billion at the box office and also came in at 96% at Rotten Tomatoes from the critics.

Chadwick Boseman died last year following a battle with cancer.

“A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much,” his family said in the statement at the time. “From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more — all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.”’
