Steven R. McQueen Leaves Vampire Diaries; Is He Nightwing For Titans?

It’s become known that Steven R. McQueen is leaving The Vampire Diaries with this season’s episode 14.

“It’s time for him to go out and live his life and we’re actually going to say goodbye to Steven R. McQueen as a series regular,” executive producer Julie Plec reveals to EW.com. “He’s growing up and moving on. He will be out living a real life.”

Plec did note McQueen’s character could still have a chance to appear on the series.

“He could show up at weddings, funerals and series finales for sure, but this journey is taking him to another place,” Plec said.

The news of McQueen’s departure comes at an interesting time as TNT is developing a Titans TV series, based on the DC Comics characters, The Teen Titans.

The Titans series begins filming this year and will feature Dick Grayson, “who emerges from the shadow of Batman to become Nightwing.”

Steven R. McQueen was previously rumored to be playing Nightwing for the CW Arrow series, with McQueen even teasing Nightwing on his social networks; however, McQueen ended up pulling back from the Nighwing rumors stating he only joked about it.

Perhaps there is more to the story and McQueen has received the call?
