Inhumans Movie Dead: No Marvel Studios & TV Crossover

Earlier saw Marvel TV announce they are proceeding with an Inhumans TV series, with the first two episodes set to screen on IMAX, a first for any TV series.

Worth a note is the official press release stated “Marvel Television, a unit of Marvel Entertainment…” — meaning Marvel TV is essentially a separate company at Disney, which also means separate from Marvel Studios. As I’ve reported on many times in the past, the disconnect inside Marvel is the real reason why the Marvel TV characters won’t be appearing in the Marvel films (i.e. no Daredevil for Avengers: Infinity War).

For those not in the know, Marvel went afoul internally due to complications between Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and eccentric Marvel CEO billionaire Ike Perlmutter and his Marvel Comics Creative Comiittee consisting of Alan Fine, Brian Bendis, Joe Quesada and Dan Buckley. According to reports, Perlmutter would regularly interfere with Marvel Studios’ creative direction and is blamed for problems with Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War  and for a rift between Marvel and Fox Studios. Perlmutter is said to have demanded that Fox-owned Marvel characters get cancelled in the Marvel comic books (replaced with Inhumans) and removed from Marvel licensing.

Perlmutter’s Marvel Comics Creative Committee is also responsible for high-jacking the Marvel Cosmic comic books following Marvel Studios greenlighting the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Prior to the movie getting made, Joe Quesada, Brian Bendis and Head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb wanted nothing to do with Guardians of the Galaxy and Nova, but once they heard about the movie getting made by Marvel Studios, they fired writers Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning who were responsible for inspiring a new Disney billion dollar franchise (NOT Bendis, Quesda or Loeb), and placed themselves on relaunched versions of the titles. What a nice way of repaying DnA for their inspiration by firing them and essentially trying to steal their limelight? Also, doing away with DnA’s titles essentially guaranteed none of their future material would ever inspire another billion dollar franchise at Disney ever again, a terrible business decision (you reward people for good work, not punish them, and then everyone benefits).

Getting back to Feige and Perlmutter, Kevin Feige went above Perlmutter’s head to Disney CEO Bob Iger and had Perlmutter and the Marvel Comics’ Creative Committee removed from being further involved with the Marvel movies. Recently saw Marvel Studios launch its own social media pages, and Marvel Studios recently redid it’s opening title sequence replacing the comic book elements with Marvel Studios actors and characters.

Since the Marvel Comics Creative Committee also runs Marvel TV (including Marvel animated division), Bleeding Cool now reports the writers of Marvel’s Agents Of SHIELD were given hardly any access to what was going on with the Marvel movies, with mention of getting “scant information” about Captain America: Civil War, and Marvel TV just created their own supernatural story for Agents of SHIELD with the Darkhold book and Ghost Rider — making it looked like Marvel TV and Agents of SHIELD tied into the Doctor Strange movie, while it didn’t at all. It’s also been brought up that the Marvel Studios Doctor Strange movie introduced the multiverse, with online speculation (including by yours truly) thinking that since Marvel Studios and Marvel TV are separate companies, that Kevin Feige might use the multiverse to rid Marvel Studios of any perceived connection to Marvel TV, Agents of SHIELD or any of the Netflix series by placing Marvel TV in a separate and distinct universe apart from Marvel Studios. It would also be a way to open up using the Marvel TV characters in Marvel movies using different actors.

Bleeding Cool also reported that the Inhumans movie would be dropped by Marvel Studios, which appears to be the case and which they say has happened. It’s further said Marvel TV now has the full Inhuman royal family for their new TV series, which includes Black Bolt and Medusa.

Who should be the next big MCU villain?
