Back to the Future Writer Thinks Doctor Strange Movie Will Be Horrible

Marvel Studios has found themselves in the hot seat due to the Doctor Strange casting of Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One and the change in the character’s ethnicity and origin (so as not to tick off the Chinese).

Now we hear from the writer of Back To The Future, who also happened to pen a Doctor Strange screenplay in the ’80s and is described as a “huge fan” of the character.

Bob Gale told Movie Pilot,”You’ve got the Ancient One as Tilda Swinton. Give me a break! Really? I mean, it’s stupid. You know?”

Obviously, Gale isn’t a fan of the gender-swapping and white-washing of the character, and when asked if he is excited for the Doctor Strange movie, replied with, “No.”

The article further notes that Gale doesn’t think Marvel Studios will be able to adapt the right vision for Doctor Strange on the big screen, at least as how Gale envisions the character, which basically sounds like the comic book version.

It’s further noted the main reason that Bob Gale doesn’t want to see Doctor Strange is because he didn’t think too highly of the first trailer.

“Doctor Strange” has a November 4, 2016 release also starring Chiwetel Ejiofor,  Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton, Benedict Wong and Mads Mikkelsen.

Synopsis:

“Doctor Strange” follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.

“Doctor Strange” is the latest film in Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Phase 3’s goal—over the course of four years and nine films—is to introduce audiences to new heroes and continue the adventures of fan favorites.
