Constantine In Talks With The CW; Amell & Guggenheim Talk Shared Universe

A few days ago NBC released their Fall schedule, which didn’t include Constantine.

The network decided not to renew the series for a second season, but the hell blazing series isn’t done just yet.

It’s possible Constantine might be resurrected at another network, with The CW a top choice.

Showrunner Daniel Cerone has now given an update in that Constantine and the CW are currently in talks.

“No updates on CW front other than both sides are talking,” Cerone tweeted.

Star of Arrow, Stephen Amell, as well as Supernatural‘s Mark Sheppard, voiced their support for the series recently, with Amell even offering to guest star.

“Hey TV Networks / Netflix and the like… If you pick up the show, I’ll guest star. Can’t wait,” Amell posted on his popular social networks.

Amell continued talking about Constantine at this past weekend’s Philadelphia Comic-Con where he let it be known he talked with DC about being featured on the series.

Constantine was an NBC show. I’m on The CW. I had had discussions with DC — so not NBC, not CW — but with DC Entertainment about guest starring on Constantine when it was still on the air. And that was and is still on the table,” Amell said. “The reason that I was going to guest star on Constantine, at least the idea that we were throwing around, was he’s an expert when it comes to the Lazarus Pit, which is now something that is a part of and will continue to be a part of Arrow.”

Recently, Arrow/Flash showrunner Marc Guggenheim also offered “there’s a lot of desire on everyone’s part” to bring Constantine into the DC shared universe fold.

“It would be wonderful and we certainly have a million ideas,” Guggenheim told Variety. “It’s hard for me to say mainly because A: it’s not my decision to make and B: with Constantine being shopped around to other networks… it’s really hard to make plans when a show’s kind of in limbo.”

Guggenheim continues with mention Constantine could work at the CW – and even has a particular idea if the talks can work out.

“There a lot of the pieces are in place, except for that one final piece, which is: what’s the fate of Constantine? That’s the tricky thing. But it comes up in the writers’ room constantly — we have a number of ideas; one idea that’s particularly exciting to me. We’re in a little bit of a wait-and-see mode, like you guys are.”
