Coming off of Mad Max: Fury Road, itās now rumored 39-year-old actress Charlize Theron is in the running to play the titular character in the Marvel Studios Captain Marvel movie.
According to a source at the Hollywood gossip siteĀ OK! magazine, Marvel has been trying to get Angelina Jolie to direct Captain Marvel, and that Charlize Theron is a favorite to play the role of Carol Danvers.
Reportedly, Jolie and Theron are close friends, and the rumor states that if Charlize Theron gets the part, Angelina Jolie would āalmost certainly sign on to work with her new pal.ā
The Captain Marvel movie still is more than three years off, with a release date of November 2, 2018.
Guardians of the Galaxy screenwriter Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve are both writing the Captain Marvel script together based on their individual treatments.
Angelina Jolie was first reported to possibly direct Captain Marvel, as well as Wonder Woman, about six weeks ago.
