Brie Larson, known for her blond flowing locks, has again taken to social media to show off her new look as she sports even shorter hair with a buzz cut.
The reason she cut her hair isn’t because of the recent election (that we know of), it’s because she landed the main role in the London play, Elektra.
Brie Larson’s Transformation for Elektra
The official website reveals a fist-look at Brie Larson as the character ( pictured above).
The play poster, shared by Larson on her Instagram Story, also offers a first glimpse of her dramatic new look. The buzz cut reflects the raw, intense nature of her character, Elektra, a woman consumed by grief and vengeance after her father’s assassination.
In a recent post on Instagram, Larson captioned one of her selfies with “Rehearsal ready,” which teases her short hair as she wears a winter hat in the cold winter of London.
As we previously went over when she also showed herself dressed for Wicked, it’s not her first time she had short hair for a role. However, she wore a wig for her character Carol Danvers in Avengers: Endgame.
This time for Elektra she has fully committed.
What is Elektra about?
Directed by Oklahoma’s Daniel Fish, this revival of Sophokles’ timeless play explores Elektra’s emotional turmoil and her thirst for vengeance. The play’s synopsis reads:
“Elektra, haunted by her father’s assassination, is consumed by grief; a need for survival; and a thirst for vengeance. When her long-lost brother Orestes at last returns, she urges him to a savage and terrifying conclusion—but at what cost?”
Adapted by award-winning poet Anne Carson, this production marks the first major revival of Elektra in over a decade.
